Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education
The School of Education at the University of California, Riverside invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track Professor position (Assistant or Associate) in Special Education, commencing as early as July 1, 2026 or as negotiated.
The School of Education (SOE) at UCR is committed to advancing equitable educational systems and practices, driven by core values of equity, evidence, excellence, community, critical thinking, and compassion. We seek a scholar whose research is relevant for teachers and school personnel, aligned with areas such as: (1) mathematics intervention, (2) writing intervention, or (3) behavior interventions. The research should address the needs of the Inland Empire region, which includes over 800,000 students, with over 21% designated as students with disabilities and 41% as English Language Learners.
Within the designated expertise (mathematics, writing, or behavior), the focus may include assessment and/or instruction for students with disabilities and from minoritized backgrounds. The successful candidate will join the special education faculty and the Learning and Behavioral Sciences group, with potential collaborations in other units like the School of Medicine and School of Public Policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in special education or a related discipline.
- Commitment to advancing education equity through research, teaching, and service.
- Expertise and demonstrated capacity for conducting a research program.
- A record showing promise of research and scholarly publications (for Assistant) or an established record (for Associate).
- Potential for or success in obtaining external research or training grants.
- Commitment to and demonstrated excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching and student mentoring.
Preferred Qualifications: Contributions that promote diversity and address the needs of California’s culturally and linguistically diverse population are encouraged.
Academic rank will be based on accomplishments in scholarly activity, grants, teaching, and mentoring. Salary and research support are commensurate with University of California standards.
