Qualifications:

To be considered for this position applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemical or Biomedical Engineering or a closely related discipline. Candidates should present evidence of the ability to engage in high-quality scholarship or relevant industrial experience through a leadership position as demonstrated through publications and/or patents. They should also demonstrate a commitment to developing cutting-edge externally funded research activities and to effectively teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. Highly qualified candidates may be considered at the rank of associate professor and/or for an endowed position.

Description:

The Gallogly College of Engineering (GCoE) at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a tenure-track position in the area of Bioprocessing at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with expected start date of August 2026. We are interested in applicants with both professional and academic experience in Bioprocessing. The prospective candidate is expected to complement OU's research portfolio in the field of biotechnology to produce pharmaceuticals using living cells and to design biosystems with such capabilities. The GCoE received a $7M investment for a multidisciplinary project in bioprocessing and biologics and established a state-of-the-art Bioprocessing Core Facility. The successful candidate is expected to advance research and workforce development through this facility (https://www.ou.edu/coe/research/centers/bioprocessing-core-facility).

The position will be either with the School of Sustainable Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering (SCBME) or with the Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering (SBME). The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with ongoing research initiatives within the Gallogly College of Engineering (https://www.ou.edu/coe/research/clusters-and-initiatives) and should be able to engage in both disciplinary and interdisciplinary research. There is an expectation that the candidate will develop a funded research program related to the research areas outlined above. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses relevant to bioprocessing at the undergraduate and graduate level and to demonstrate a commitment to excellent and innovative instruction. Expectations include collaboration with other faculty members and effective mentoring of students with an ethos of care and support.
