Assistant/Associate Professor position in pavement engineering (tenure track)

The Department of Civil Engineering at the Aalto University School of Engineering invites applications for a full-time Assistant / Associate Professor position.

We are looking for an expert prepared to advance the field with an ambitious research agenda emphasizing bituminous materials and mixtures. Success requires strong skills in interacting with the Finnish industry. The professorship includes teaching and course coordination on structural design of roads, bituminous materials and mixtures, road maintenance, rehabilitation, and geometric design of roads. Collaboration with department research groups, School of Engineering, and other institutions is expected.

Your role and experience

All professors perform high-quality research, teaching, supervise students, engage in leadership, and cooperate with national stakeholders.

We are looking for a candidate who:

• Has completed a doctoral degree relevant for the position
• Has experimental experience and technical/methodological skills
• Has potential/proven capability to carry out research and attract funding
• Has potential/proven capability to collaborate with national stakeholders
• Has potential/proven capability for education and researcher training
• Has ability to teach in the Geoengineering graduate program
• Has fluent English; Finnish knowledge advantageous

Merits appraised on research, teaching, leadership. Bibliometric analysis used. For assistant: potential; associate: merits. Advantages: funding acquisition, multidisciplinary approach, industry cooperation.
