Essential Job Duties:
The Department of Performing Arts and Technology at North Carolina State University seeks applications for a tenure-track, nine-month, full-time Assistant/Associate Professor in Music Technology. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the delivery and expansion of the Music Technology program that operates in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program (45%) and teach courses (45%) in musical acoustics and psychoacoustics, sound isolation, recording, mixing, audio digital signal processing, audio effects development, sound design, video game audio, audio/musical electronics, and/or additional music technology areas associated with the candidate's expertise. The successful candidate will also assist in student advising, serve on department committees, and assist in the management and maintenance of the classroom and lab technology for hands-on experimental learning projects.

Other Work/Responsibilities:
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience/Education:

• Requires a Ph. D. or equivalent terminal degree in music technology or related fields.
• Rank will be awarded based on education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong commitment to excellence in teaching
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching experience at the university level
• PhD or DMA in music, music technology, computer science, electrical engineering or other related field
• Experience and/or credentialing in both music and engineering
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with educational partners, business/industry, or external agencies
• The ability to lead interdisciplinary programs requiring faculty collaboration
