The Assistant Athletic Director - Facilities Operations provides leadership and oversight for the daily operations, maintenance, safety, security, and long-term planning of Razorback Athletics facilities. Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director, this role directs the Athletics Facilities Department, including building operations, grounds, custodial services, and facility security.
The position oversees facility operating budgets, third-party service contracts, preventative and deferred maintenance programs, facility scheduling, access control and security operations, and departmental policies and procedures. This role also supports facility renovations, capital projects, large-scale asset replacement, and short- and long-term facility planning to ensure Athletics facilities are safe, efficient, well-maintained, and positioned to meet the department’s evolving needs.
In addition, the position serves as a key facilities liaison with University departments, public safety partners, vendors, contractors, and other external entities and provides facility leadership for athletic contests, concerts, and other large-scale events. The position works collaboratively with Event Management, Event Operations, Premium Services, Tech Trades, IT/Technology and other Athletics units to support student-athlete success, operational excellence, and an exceptional fan and guest experience.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Facilities Management, Operations Management, Sport Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field At least four (4) years of professional experience in facilities operations, facility management, venue operations, or a closely related area At least two (2) years of experience supervising personnel, including responsibility for employee selection, performance management, and/or disciplinary actions Experience planning and monitoring departmental budgets, purchasing activities, and expenditures Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and other non-standard hours as required by facility and event operations
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Facilities Management, Operations Management, Sport Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining operational policies and procedures Experience in facilities management or operations within NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics Experience coordinating facility operations and support services for major sporting events, concerts, and other large-scale events Experience assisting in facility projects and/or facility upgrades within athletics setting Management history of large-scale venues and the overall coordination of hosting various sporting and non-sporting events within Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of facility operations, maintenance, safety, security, and preventative maintenance practices Knowledge of principles and practices related to personnel supervision, performance management, and team leadership Knowledge of budget management, purchasing, contract administration, and resource allocation Knowledge of facility planning, renovation, construction, and deferred maintenance processes Knowledge of NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics operations, rules, regulations, and facility requirements Strong leadership, organizational, administrative, and operational management skills Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, customer service, and negotiation skills Ability to effectively supervise, develop, and coordinate the work of a diverse facilities operations team Ability to manage multiple facilities, projects, operational priorities, and events simultaneously while meeting established deadlines Ability to assess operational issues, exercise sound judgment, make timely decisions, and effectively respond to emergency or rapidly changing situations Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with University partners, coaches and staff, vendors, contractors, public safety personnel, and other internal and external stakeholders Ability to utilize facility management, work order, scheduling, access control, security, and related technology systems to support efficient facility operations
