Assistant Athletic Trainer

Position Overview
The Fairfield University Athletics Department is currently inviting applications for an Assistant Athletic Trainer Position. The ideal candidate will assist in providing comprehensive athletic training services to our athletes, including injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of sports medicine, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Injury Prevention and Management: Assist in the development and implementation of injury prevention programs and protocols. Provide first aid, injury evaluation, and emergency care as needed.
- Assessment and Treatment: Evaluate and diagnose athletic injuries and conditions. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including therapeutic exercises and modalities.
- Rehabilitation: Monitor and support athletes through their rehabilitation process, ensuring effective recovery and safe return to play.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of athlete injuries, treatments, and progress. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and support athlete performance and health.
- Education and Guidance: Educate athletes on injury prevention, proper techniques, and overall wellness. Provide guidance on equipment use and conditioning programs.
- Administrative Duties: Assist with scheduling, managing inventory of supplies and equipment, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training.
- Certification from the Board of Certification (BOC) is required.
- 2 years experience as an Athletic Trainer in intercollegiate athletics.
- Current CPR/ AED Certification required.
- Strong knowledge of sports medicine, injury assessment, and rehabilitation techniques. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Other Requirements
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Must be able to lift and carry equipment, and stand or move for extended periods.
