Assistant Athletic Trainer for Club Sports (Athletic Trainer I)
Position Summary
The Assistant Athletic Trainer for Club Sports plays an important role in supporting the health, safety, and well-being of San Diego State University student-athletes through the delivery of comprehensive athletic training services. Under the general supervision of the Sr. Associate Athletic Director of Athletic Medicine, this position performs a full range of clinical athletic training responsibilities, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct athletic training services to assigned club sport student-athletes, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing care.
- Coordinate and provide medical coverage for practices, competitions, conditioning activities, and championship events as assigned.
- Collaborate with physicians, healthcare providers, coaches, and athletics staff regarding injury status, treatment plans, referrals, and return-to-participation recommendations.
- Maintain medical records, administrative documentation, clinic schedules, and other athletic training program requirements in accordance with university, healthcare, and NCAA guidelines.
- Support athletic medicine operations through professional guidance of athletic training students, emergency preparedness efforts, and communication with student-athletes and campus partners.
