In response to this community-wide challenge, Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services (PCHAS), now operates 12 programs in 34 locations, serving nearly 4,500 children and families each year, which provide children with permanent homes and adults with increased self-sufficiency. This position is a 6-month temporary assignment with the potential for permanent employment based on business needs, performance, workload, and overall fit. Employment is at-will, meaning either the employee or the agency may end the employment relationship at any time, with or without notice, in accordance with applicable law. 


Position Summary:


We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and flexible individual to serve as an Assistant Case Manager supporting children and families participating in the Foster Care Case Management (FCCM) program.


The Assistant Case Manager will work under the direction of the assigned Foster Care Case Manager or Supervisor to provide essential support to children and families throughout their involvement with the program. Responsibilities may include transportation, supervised visitation, documentation, communication with families and service providers, and other case management support as needed.


The ideal candidate will be dependable, patient, observant, organized, and able to build positive and professional relationships with children, families, and community partners. The ability to maintain confidentiality, establish appropriate boundaries, follow safety procedures, and remain professional in a variety of settings is essential.


This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children and families, comfortable working independently, and able to adapt to changing client needs and schedules. The Assistant Case Manager will play an important role in helping ensure children and families receive consistent, safe, and supportive services throughout the FCCM process.


Essential Job Functions: 

  • Provide supervised visitation for children and their parents/families in accordance with case plans and agency requirements.
  • Safely transport children and clients to and from supervised visits, foster care placements, medical appointments, school, and other approved activities.
  • Travel throughout the state as required to meet the needs of children and families.
  • Monitor parent-child interactions during supervised visitation and provide appropriate support and guidance.
  • Address and reinforce positive parenting skills during supervised visits.
  • Promote positive parenting practices, healthy family relationships, and appropriate child development.
  • Support efforts to reduce the risk of child maltreatment by modeling and reinforcing safe and appropriate parenting behaviors.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation regarding transportation, visitation, client interactions, and other services provided.
  • Communicate observations, concerns, and relevant information to the assigned Foster Care Case Manager or Supervisor.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality when working with children, families, foster parents, and other service providers.
  • Establish and maintain positive, respectful, and professional relationships with children and families.
  • Observe and report changes in a child's behavior, circumstances, or needs to the appropriate Case Manager or Supervisor.
  • Follow all agency policies, safety procedures, case plans, and applicable requirements related to working with children and families.
  • Assist the assigned Case Manager with administrative and case-related tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate with foster parents, biological parents, schools, healthcare providers, service providers, and other approved individuals as directed.
  • Provide reliable and consistent support to children and families throughout their participation in the FCCM program.
  • Maintain accurate records and protect confidential and sensitive client information at all times.
  • Perform other duties related to the support of the FCCM program as assigned.

Working Conditions:


This temporary position may involve working in a variety of environments depending on the needs of the children and families served. Assignments may take place in offices, homes, foster homes, residential facilities, hospitals, schools, court-related settings, and other community locations.

The position may require:

  • Working days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours based on program and client needs.
  • Driving regularly throughout various geographic and community settings.
  • Traveling extensively throughout the state as required.
  • Safely transporting children and clients in accordance with agency policies and applicable requirements.
  • Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, walking, and other routine physical activity.
  • Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Using computers, telephones, copiers, calculators, and other standard office equipment.
  • Maintaining alertness and attentiveness while supervising children and interacting with families.
  • Remaining professional, patient, and composed when working with children, families, foster parents, and individuals experiencing challenging circumstances.
  • Working independently while also following direction from Foster Care Case Managers and Supervisors.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries in all work environments.
  • Adapting to changing schedules, locations, and client needs while maintaining dependable and consistent service.


Compensation details: 19.5-21 Hourly Wage

Requirements

  • <ul><li>High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.</li><li>Valid driver's license required for assignments involving transportation.</li><li>Reliable transportation and ability to travel as required.</li><li>Ability to work effectively with children, parents, foster families, clients, facility staff, and other professionals.</li><li>Strong observation, communication, organization, and documentation skills.</li><li>Ability to remain calm, attentive, and professional in potentially challenging situations.</li><li>Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, safety procedures, agency policies, and facility guidelines.</li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.</li><li>Ability to remain engaged and attentive throughout an assigned shift.</li><li>Ability to adapt to changing schedules, assignments, and client needs.</li><li>Ability to safely transport clients when transportation duties are assigned.</li><li>Ability to work independently while appropriately communicating concerns and observations to supervisors or designated staff.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Experience:</strong> </p><p> </p><p>Prior experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred but may not be required:</p><ul><li>Foster care or child welfare</li><li>Case management or case management support</li><li>Social services</li><li>Working with children and families</li><li>Supervised visitation</li><li>Family support services</li><li>Child and family advocacy</li><li>Community-based services</li><li>Youth services or mentoring</li><li>Transportation services involving children or families</li><li>Residential or foster care settings</li><li>Documentation and case-related administrative support</li><li>Crisis intervention or conflict resolution</li><li>Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds</li></ul><p>Candidates may be considered based on their overall experience, qualifications, reliability, communication skills, ability to work independently, and ability to effectively support children and families. Experience working in a child- or family-focused environment is preferred, but candidates with transferable skills and a demonstrated commitment to supporting children and families may also be considered.</p><p><br /></p><p><strong>Other Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Must be dependable and consistently report for scheduled assignments.</li><li>Must be able to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive client and family information.</li><li>Must maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times.</li><li>Must comply with all applicable agency, facility, safety, and client-specific requirements.</li><li>Must be willing to complete any required onboarding, orientation, training, background screening, or other pre-employment requirements applicable to the assignment.</li><li>Must immediately communicate safety concerns, incidents, significant changes in client behavior or condition, and other relevant concerns to the appropriate staff member or supervisor.</li><li>Must perform only duties that are within the individual's training, authorization, and assigned responsibilities.</li></ul><p><strong>Temporary Contract Term:</strong></p><p><br /></p><p>This is an <strong>approximately six-week temporary contract position</strong>.
