Hospitality… but not as you know it.
Looking for a hospitality management role that doesn’t mean endless late nights, split shifts, or sacrificing your work–life balance? Welcome to Campus Kitchen at UEA. We’re looking for a hands-on, people-focused Catering & Hospitality Assistant Manager to help shape and grow two vibrant food outlets — Unio and BOX — based in the heart of campus. This is a role where you can lead, innovate, and still have a life outside of work.
Why this role is different
Unlike many hospitality roles, working within a university environment means:
- Predictable hours and structured shifts
- A strong focus on wellbeing and work–life balance
- Minimal late nights (even when things get busy!)
- The buzz of hospitality in a supportive and values-driven workplace
You’ll be part of a forward-thinking catering team that values creativity, flexibility, and people — both customers and colleagues.
About the outlets
Unio is part of the wider Campus Kitchen brand and offers fresh barista coffee, bubble tea, flatbreads, croissants and traybakes.
- Folded, filled hot flatbreads
- Flavoured croissants
- Home-made traybakes
Box is the go-to afternoon and event food spot in the Students’ Union bar, BOX is loved for hand-stretched pizza, garlic bread, loaded nachos, and dough balls
You’ll play a key role in the day to day management of Unio and BOX and leading and motivating teams during service.
This role is ideal if you enjoy fast-paced service, but also like stepping back to work on longer-term projects, ideas, and improvements.
You’ll thrive if you:
- Love working with people and leading teams
- Stay calm and make good decisions during busy service
- Grow income whilst managing costs
- Take pride in delivering great food and beautifully made drinks
- Care deeply about cleanliness, food safety, and high standards
- Want a hospitality career that fits around your life — not the other way around
Further information on our great benefits package, including 39 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days can be found on our benefits page.
Equivalent experience in a similar role is essential, and the post will include some evening and weekend work, working 5 days out of 7. If you meet all the essential requirements of the person specification, it would be great to hear from you.
Closing date: 22 February 2026
The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
