Assistant Cheer Coach (Part-Time)
Position Summary
Manhattan University is looking for the next Assistant Coach of the Cheerleading team. The Cheerleaders are a team which performs regularly at all home men's and women's basketball games, pep rally's, and other large, school-wide events, functions, or athletic events. They also attend NCA in Daytona, Florida. The Assistant Coach must maintain a safe environment for students to participate. They work with the Head Coach and are responsible for the recruitment of students and tryouts, weekly practices, and choreography of routines. They, along with the head coach, are responsible for all logistics and ordering associated with the team, marketing, uniforms and costumes, along with fundraising required by the group. This is an on campus non-remote position.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in maintaining a safe environment for cheerleaders
- Coordinate student recruitment and tryout processes
- Conduct weekly practices and choreograph routines
- Manage logistics, ordering, marketing, uniforms, and costumes for the team
- Collaborate with the Head Coach on fundraising initiatives
- Support the team during performances at home games, pep rallies, and other events
- Assist in preparations for the NCA event in Daytona, Florida
- Others duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required
- Previous experience in cheerleading or coaching
- Knowledge of safety practices in cheerleading
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach
- Experience in coordinating routines and choreography
