Assistant Coach and Director of Operations, Football

Assists in coaching, recruiting, counseling, and evaluating for the football team during transition of vacant coaching positions; oversees administrative tasks related to the football program.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Supervises and manages personnel; interviews applicants and makes hiring recommendations; trains and orients new employees; monitors and evaluates job performance; monitors and approves employee leave requests; ensures compliance with university policies and procedures; receives employee complaints and attempts to resolve the issue; assigns and issues lower level corrective action in accordance with university policies and procedures; receives and adjusts and/or responds to grievances; investigates and effectively recommends more severe discipline action as warranted.

Assumes responsibility for the oversight of the administrative operations of the football program; coordinates team travel, game day operations, practice security, field set-up, and video exchange; serves as liaison to various campus departments; serves as liaison to pro scouts; assists in youth camp management; evaluates and implements equipment and facility needs.

Implements coaching and teaching methods to develop student-athletes' athletic skills; analyzes performance of student-athletes during times of transition in coaching staff; assists in the recruiting process including arrangement of meals and entertainment, arrangement of transportation, arrangement and conducting of tours, preparation and review of recruiting documentation; analyzes team needs in order to focus recruitment efforts; develops promotional correspondence and materials for distribution to prospective recruits.

Assists with team marketing and promotional activities, attends promotional events, community activities, and fundraisers; prepares promotional materials for distribution; prepares and delivers speeches and presentations at local community groups, fundraisers, athlete events, etc.; coordinates summer jobs program and community outreach.

Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

Other Functions and Responsibilities:

Abides by rules and regulations of NCAA, conference, and university.

Videotapes practices, games, and strength training sessions as directed.

Manages equipment inventory and related duties as directed.

Develops and manages strength training program as directed.

Drives passenger vans as required.

Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

Assists with training new hires.

Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.

Equipment Operated:Computer and all other standard office equipment.

Work Schedule:Extensive travel and non-traditional hours.

Supervision Exercised:May exercise supervision over staff and student employees.

Reports to: Head Coach, Football

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures:CPR/AED/First Aid certifications; annual proficiency in NCAA Certification to Recruit; and valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of: NCAA rules and regulations; university policies and procedures*; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives*; workplace safety practices and procedures*; English grammar and spelling; records management.

Skill in: organization; written and verbal communication; use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*.

Ability to: exhibit strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; maintain records according to established procedures; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one tasks to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications:At least a bachelor's degree; football coaching experience; collegiate operations, personnel, or administrative experience; and a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree. Experience as a successful high school or collegiate head coach or experience in administration. Experience with Division I football operations or player personnel. Experience coaching or recruiting in the state of Ohio & Western Pennsylvania. Collegiate coaching experience. Experience coordinating prospect camps. Experience coordinating NCAA Transfer Portal recruitment.
