Job Description
Reports to the Head Men's Basketball Coach and assists in the coaching, instructing, and administration of all phases of the Men's basketball program in accordance with NCAA Division I rules and philosophies.
The hire date for this position will be no sooner than 7/1/2026.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assists the Head Men's Basketball Coach in the administration of all aspects of the basketball program
- Assist with coaching strategies to maintain a highly competitive NCAA Division I men's basketball program
- Develop training activities and teaching methods
- Ability to travel, recruit and evaluate prospective student athletes
- Liaison with marketing and promotions, facilities, equipment manager, compliance office and student services
- Coordinate preseason housing and meals, travel, and assist with budgetary tasks
- Assist with unofficial and official recruiting visits
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this role include:
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Experience with day-to-day administrative; including but not limited to implementation of running and workout programs, budget management, professional development, NCAA rules and regulations, organization skills and supporting the educational goals and ideals of the members of the men's basketball program.
- Support the University's Mission and Values in their role.
Required Qualifications:
This position requires:
- Bachelor's degree
- 1-2 years demonstrated college playing and/or coaching Men's Basketball.
- A commitment to the academic goals of Stetson University.
- A commitment to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the NCAA, ASUN Conference, and Stetson University, as required.
- The candidate must possess the ability to work effectively with student-athletes, alumni, program boosters, the public and administrative staff.
- The candidate should possess the ability to recruit, coach and teach a wide skill range of athletes the fundamentals and theories of basketball.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University's auto insurance carrier.

The ideal candidate's qualifications include:
- Master's degree
- Ability to lead with integrity and positively influence the lives and athletic careers of the student-athletes on the Men's Basketball Team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Superb organization skills to effectively manage and lead Men's Basketball program.
Work Environment:
Duties require: both indoor and outdoor work; direct exposure to prevailing weather, extreme heat, humidity, and extreme cold; physical ability to endure physically strenuous work-outs and physical exercise on a daily basis, including standing and/or walking for long periods, bending, stooping, lifting; manual dexterity; lifting of up to fifty pounds; ability to work hours outside the normal University schedule; physical ability to travel; perceptual demands for sound, form, depth.
Work authorization sponsorship may be available for this position. However, sponsorship is contingent upon the non-applicability of the visa petition fees outlined in the relevant Executive Order signed September 19, 2025. Due to the recent federally-mandated increased financial expense, the university is not in a position to absorb this significantly increased cost of sponsorship for new H-1B petitions at this time.
