Assistant Coach of Football & Men's Lacrosse
Assistant Football and Men's Lacrosse Coach (combined position)
Williams College, a Division III institution and a member of the New England Small College Athletics Conference (NESCAC), invites applications for combined Assistant Football Coach / Men's Lacrosse Coach. This is a full time, 12-month position that comes with a full-board meal plan and benefits. This position pays $46,800 per year.
The Assistant Coach will primarily be assigned to the Football team between August 1 and December 15 and Men's Lacrosse team between January 15 and May 31. Outside of these timeframes the assistant coach will be working with both teams on out-of-season duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (In-Season)
Practice and Training
- Provide instruction during practice and training sessions to assigned athletes and/or position groups
- Design and execute practice drills based on analyzed film for upcoming competition
- Be responsible for the set-up and break-down of position and team drills before and after practices
- Provide both group and individual advice to athletes to improve skills
Scouting and Recruiting
- Responsible for break-down and distribution of game and practice film for coaches and athletes to scout for upcoming competition
- Provide analysis to athletes and coaches of opponent film to prepare for upcoming competition
- Evaluate potential recruits through film, contact with coaches, and other means as permitted by NCAA regulations
- Communicate with potential student-athletes through a variety of means in compliance with NCAA standards, including phone, social media, and in-person meeting (when applicable. May require travel)
Gameday Responsibilities
- Ensure playing area is ready for gameday activity, including set-up of markers, stands, video equipment, and bench area
- Provide in-competition support to assigned athletes and/or position group
- Assist head coach in executing established gameplan, including any in-game adjustments
Travel
- Make travel arrangements for the team to and from practice/competition (securing buses, vans, hotels, etc.)
- Keep track of expenses for travel
- Be prepared to drive college vehicle if necessary
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Off-Season)
Recruiting (Evaluation)
- Evaluate potential recruits through film, contact with coaches, and other means as allowed by NCAA Division III regulations
- With the Head Coach, develop a comprehensive prospect list of recruits.
- Assist in developing strategies for off-season recruiting practices
Recruiting (Contact and Relationship Building)
- Communicate with potential student-athletes through a variety of means in compliance with NCAA Division III standards, including phone, social media, and in-person meeting (when applicable. May require travel)
- Attend events where recruits are competing to assist in evaluation (travel required).
- Participate in on-and-off campus camps used to scout and recruit potential student-athletes
Season Preparation
- Assist Head Coach in designing and implementing training schedules, preseason practices, and in-season.
- Responsible for break-down, analysis, and distribution of game and practice film for coaches and athletes to prepare for next season's competition.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year of college coaching experience required
