The position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is a full-time position in the University of Arizona Athletics Department. The purpose of this position is the development and management of strength and conditioning programs for Division I varsity sports, as well as the management of the Strength and Conditioning facility.

This position requires the ability work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist Director of Strength & Conditioning for Football in all characteristics for Football programs. These characteristics include strength, speed, conditioning, nutrition, GPS tracking, body profile management, and functional stages of rehabilitation for injured athletes cleared for participation by the medical staff.
  • Instruct in Olympic lifting techniques, plyometric progressions and sprint development.
  • Test and evaluate athletic performance on strength, power, flexibility, body fat percentage and specific conditioning.
  • Assist with student-athlete nutrition education in collaboration with certified nutrition staff regarding diet, nutrition, and weight management.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of a GPS database for assigned student-athletes.
  • Enforce the rules and regulations governing the activity in the weight room.
  • Budget accountability.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and achieve established goals.
  • Knowledge of NCAA, Big 12, and University of Arizona rules and regulations pertaining to this position.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities and successfully manage multiple priority projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels, and maintain a professional, respectful demeanor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or a related field.
  • One year of experience as a strength and conditioning coach at the collegiate level.
  • CSCS or SCCC Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Exercise Science or a related field.
  • Previous experience handling and collecting data from several sport science platforms (e.g., GPS, heart rate variability, heart rate, hydration, velocity-based training, etc.).
  • USAW Certification.
