Responsibilities

  • The Assistant Director serves as a resource for Academic Affairs, participates actively in capital projects, develops strategic space management, ensures compliance with CSU guidelines, and collaborates extensively to address instructional, research, and office space needs, optimizing academic space allocation and utilization.
  • Oversees the strategic planning, management, and optimization of academic spaces across the institution.
  • Actively participates with end-users and the Office of Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction for all major and minor capital projects affecting Academic Affairs.
  • Develops and manages policies for space allocation and usage.
  • Works with departments to assess current and future academic space needs based on growth or decline of enrollment, new programs, research, etc.
  • Understands nuances and communicates the effects of course scheduling practices on academic space utilization.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant analytical, administrative, or planning-related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in space planning, facilities management, higher education administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in strategic planning and managing space allocation projects.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in architecture, urban planning, facilities management, higher education administration, business administration, public administration, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in space planning, facilities management, higher education administration, or a related field

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership

  • Strong project management capabilities and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in space management software and data analysis tools.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Expertise in strategic planning and space allocation.
  • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
  • Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee development, recognition, and accountability to further operational goals.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits. The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $85,000 - $100,000 per year, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
