Assistant Director, Academic Support and Resources
The Center for Academic Success and Enrichment seeks an Assistant Director, Academic Support Resources to provide academic support and resources to students and coordinate tutoring services across the university.
Tutoring Program & Oversight (60%):
- Manage all administrative and logistical aspects of the Peer Tutoring Program including the recruitment and selection processes.
- Oversee the session scheduling, tracking and payroll processes for tutoring staff.
- Plan and implement Peer Tutor training sessions using College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) guidelines.
- Support Peer Tutors in planning, organizing, and implementing active/collaborative learning techniques and strategies in 1:1 and small-group sessions.
- Conduct analyses of staff appointments and sessions, and provide feedback on observations, developing improvement plans and goals with staff when necessary.
- Assist with targeted outreach efforts to connect students with tutoring services and academic resources pertinent to their success in the courses.
- Lead efforts to assess student learning outcomes and evaluate the Peer Tutoring Program to identify strengths, weaknesses, and recommended solutions.
- Assist with producing monthly and end of year reports.
- Maintain records and collect data to assess the effectiveness of tutoring and academic support initiatives.
Academic Coaching (30%)
- Create and facilitate workshops, pertinent to the academic success of students.
- Build relationships with faculty and staff and serve as a resource for them regarding academic assistance for students.
- Assist with providing individualized support to graduate students in the form of coaching on study skills, test taking strategies, and time management.
Other Duties (10%)
- Support office-wide initiatives and represent CASE at university-sponsored events such as Open House, Commencement, Orientation and Admitted Students' Day.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Director for Academic Support & Resources.
Requirements
Required:
- Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Teaching, Student Affairs or related field.
- Two or more years of experience in a college or university providing academic support or teaching college students.
- Experience with supervision of student leaders.
- Knowledge of study skills and learning styles literature and resources.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with members of the college community.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Problem resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge and proficiency using MS Office Programs, specifically Microsoft Excel and general reporting knowledge required (or any other software specific to the job).
- Ability to manage confidential materials and maintain confidentiality when working on specific tasks or projects.
- Possess a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks and resources appropriately.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Excellent written, oral communication and computer skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, sitting, manual dexterity, ability to move between offices and floors of buildings
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure
- Ability to be physically in attendance at designated worksite during scheduled work hours and to work some evenings and weekends
- Normal range of vision and hearing (with or without correction)
- Ability to lift up to 5 – 10 lbs.
