Assistant Director, Clinical Experiences- Bagwell College of Education
Job Summary
Manage the placement process for students entering clinical field experiences, while working with school district partners, and administration. Assist in organizing conferences, and workshops for students, along with Bagwell College of Education (BCOE) conference initiatives. Supervise work study students assigned to CEPP. Maintain confidentiality and have a willingness to work with diverse student and faculty populations.
Responsibilities
- Manage placement process to provide leadership to staff persons requesting and confirming placements in partner districts (CEPP places approximately 2500 students per calendar)
- Process Bright from the Start state background check for students interested in clinical experiences with preschool settings
- Organize the ESOL Conference for Bagwell College of Education, including registration, working with vendors for food, speaker contracts, and give-away products and assist with other BCOE conferences as requested
- Act as a liaison to KSU faculty and staff, disseminating information and policies for placements
- Hire, train, and supervise work study students
- Attend, participate, and lead workshops, conferences, and seminars as needed to keep abreast of changes in clinical field experiences
- Coordinate field awards for students completing year-long clinical experiences and plan Opening and Closing seminars for senior level students
- Provide service as support center for Bright from the Start for birth-kindergarten majors within the Early Childhood Education Department
- Handle confidential student, and external partner documents
- Interface with Legal/Contracts department to ensure all contracts are approved by legal standard
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted Georgia driver's license
Required Experience
Experience placing students in P-12 setting for clinical experiences
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Ability to interface with school district personnel and administration
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Graduate Degree from an accredited institution of higher education, with management and clinical placement experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of GaPSC rules, and the criminal background check process for prospective teacher candidates
Familiar with FERPA guidelines
Knowledge of the criminal background check requirements which can restrict students from being placed in clinical experiences in P-12 settings
Knowledge of Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) rules
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
Other Information
This is a supervisory position.
This position does not have any financial responsibilities.
This position will be required to drive.
This role is considered a position of trust.
This position requires a purchasing card (P-Card).
This position may travel 1% - 24% of the time
