Assists the Director in advancing the mission of the Academic Support Center. Develops and implements learning support services and collaborates with Deans, faculty, Program Directors, the Disability Services Specialist, and members of the university community to provide academic support, resources, and outreach. Partners with Academic Support Center staff to promote the University's and Center's mission for student success through engagement, collaboration, and inclusiveness.

Work Location: Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles). On-site only position.

Start Date: Immediately

Annual Salary Rate: $70,699.20

Monthly Salary Rate: $5,891.60

Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Serves as an Academic Coach for probationary students, working closely with the Undergraduate Dean to monitor student academic alerts
  2. Monitors student academic alerts through the advising system and proactively intervene as needed
  3. Contacts and meets with students on alert to support academic progress, retention, and success
  4. Plans and facilitates the SPR_23X: Course Strategies for Academic Success course for probationary students
  5. Collaborates with the Academic Support Center team to develop, implement, track, and assess student success interventions
  6. Creates, implements, and assesses academic workshops that support student success
  7. Organizes and facilitates stress-relief and wellness activities to foster student connection, engagement, and a supportive learning environment
  8. Assists the Director in planning and managing the Summer Pathways Program
  9. Supports the Disability Services Specialist in planning, scheduling, and proctoring exams, including implementing testing protocols and accommodations
  10. Oversees and coordinates the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of mentors, student workers, and peer tutors
  11. Provides outreach, orientations, and develops marketing materials to promote student success and retention
  12. Creates, implements, and assesses connections to Mount activities that support student success
  13. Assists with managing the center in the absence of the Director
  14. Assists with the department's annual assessment process
  15. Creates monthly and annual reports using center usage data
  16. Participates in committees, staff meetings, and departmental meetings related to student success initiatives
  17. Represents the Academic Support Center within the university community
  18. Monitors the center's webpage and social media platforms, recommending and updating content as needed.
  19. Maintains records of credit card expenditures
  20. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Operations, programs, and services offered within academic support or learning environments
  • General office procedures and applicable software programs
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Excel, Canva, Canvas, online calendars, and social media platforms relevant to the position
  • Knowledge of research, trends, and best practices related to student success and learning support services

Abilities and Skills:

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects while coordinating timelines with partners
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to initiate projects and drive them to completion
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to take a leadership role in developing activities and supporting the professional growth of the Academic Support Center team
  • Ability to maintain tact, discretion, and diplomacy when handling sensitive and confidential student and staff matters

Education:

  • Master's degree in education, psychology, sociology, or a related field

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience supporting student success and learning in diverse educational settings
