Job Summary
The Division of Public Safety (DPS) Events at CU Boulder encourages applications for an Assistant Director ! This role will provide oversight and management of operational, planning, and logistical aspects of campus special events. Reporting to the Police Commander over Public Safety Events within CU Boulder's Division of Public Safety, this position will be responsible for conducting threat and vulnerability assessments for events and event venues on the CU Boulder campus. This role will also be responsible for management of organizations or groups on campus providing event security, including staffing coordination, compliance with local, state, federal laws and University policies, and emergency procedures. The Assistant Director will supervise a Program Manager, DPS Special Events and student employees and liaise closely with the University of Colorado Police Department

The Division of Public Safety (DPS) Events team serves as the central point of coordination for campus events requiring safety, security, and operational planning support.
From large-scale public gatherings to smaller, high-profile events, DPS Events partners with campus departments and external organizers to review event requests for compliance with University of Colorado Boulder policies, assess safety considerations, and coordinate the resources needed for a successful event. This includes collaboration around security planning, facilities coordination, crowd management, and risk mitigation—ensuring events are both welcoming and well-prepared.
