Department Summary
The position provides strategic leadership, administration, planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive health and well-being initiatives that support the Ohio University community. This position oversees prevention education, peer health education, outreach, risk reduction, and student engagement efforts focused on areas such as mental health and well-being, alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, hazing, bystander intervention, and power-based personal violence. The position supervises graduate assistants and student staff, develops collaborative campus and community partnerships, and advances evidence-informed strategies that foster supportive health-promoting environments. Reporting to Associate Director, Make Respect Visible, this role supports a culture of assessment, student empowerment, continuous improvement, and holistic well-being through leadership, education, and cross-campus collaboration.
Administration, Leadership & Strategic Planning:
Provide leadership, administration, strategic planning, and implementation for university-wide prevention, health promotion, peer education, and well-being initiatives. Lead evidence-informed education, outreach, and risk reduction efforts related to alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, hazing, bystander intervention, power-based personal violence, mental health, and peer empowerment. Develop and sustain collaborative partnerships with university and community stakeholders to advance student well-being and institutional priorities. Ensures areas of responsibility comply with all state laws; University rules, regulations, and policies; as well as divisional policies and procedures.
Program Development & Outreach Coordination:
Oversee the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of prevention, peer education, outreach, and student engagement initiatives that foster supportive and health-promoting campus environments. Support student-led learning, social norming, training, and educational strategies that strengthen community care, empowerment, harm reduction, and student success.
Staff Supervision & Professional Development:
Supervise graduate assistants, student employees, and peer educators while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Lead recruitment, training, mentorship, performance management, and professional development efforts to support high-quality programming and student engagement.
Assessment, Evaluation & Quality Improvement:
Lead assessment and quality improvement efforts across prevention, outreach, and health promotion initiatives. Develop and implement program evaluation measures, learning outcomes, assessment tools, and reporting processes to support data-informed decision-making, continuous improvement, and compliance with state and federal requirements. Utilize assessment findings to identify student needs, improve services, and communicate program impact.
Resource Management & Divisional Leadership:
Provide responsible stewardship of departmental resources including budgets, personnel, equipment, and operational systems. Ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while promoting operational effectiveness and sustainability. Actively contribute to divisional initiatives through collaboration, effective communication, inclusive practices, and leadership that supports the health and well-being of the university community. Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Profile
Supports the student experience outside the classroom by developing and implementing programs that promote student integration, well-being, and success. Develops and implements student non-academic programs, services, and activities, including residential life, social events, public service, student conduct, leadership development, student organization advising, and other areas.
Level Summary
Manages and resolves complex and ambiguous issues. Works on both strategic and operational challenges, addressing problems that require advanced knowledge and experience. Often takes on leadership roles in projects or initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides mentorship and guidance to team. Infrequently has a limited number of direct reports.

Physical Requirements
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
