General Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field. Master's preferred. Four years of experience in a related field. Experience in programming and marketing preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Assists the Director of Student Experience & Retention Programs with various initiatives and objectives. Implements strategic and impactful initiatives to enhance the overall student and family experience by developing and implementing programming that both aids in the student journey and enables families and supporters to effectively contribute to their students' success, retention, and completion.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
  • Assists the Director with leading the development and execution of all events, including the Student Experience, under the Office of Student & Family Experience.
  • Serves as family and supporters' primary point of contact to address inquiries, provide information, and offer support.
  • Designs, plans, and executes family and supporter-focused programming (e.g., Bearkat Family Weekend, Siblings Weekend, Orientation/Information Sessions, Webinars, etc.).
  • Facilitates the development and execution of a proactive parent and family communications plan by managing the CampusESP web portal as the central hub for information, updates, and resources.
  • Leads marketing efforts for the SHSU Parents' Association, including strategic recruitment and sustained engagement of members. Utilizes social media and a monthly newsletter for family and supporter engagement.
  • Responsible for recruiting and onboarding SHSU Parents' Association Advisory Board members.
  • Oversees the SHSU Parents' Association Advisory Board to leverage their insights and contributions.
  • Establishes, builds, and maintains collaborative working relationships with other SHSU departments and offices to execute annual events. Works with Visitor Services and attends all Saturday@Sam and preview day events.
  • Supports the development and execution of student experience roadmaps and guides across the student journey.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of student experience programs and contributes to adjustments as needed.
  • Trains and supervises student workers assigned to the Office of Student & Family Experience.
  • Involves strategic planning, data-driven decision-making, and preparing and submitting status reports to the Director of Student Experience & Retention Programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
