Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) provides administrative direction and assists in the operations of the Department of Nursing.
Responsibilities
- Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Collaborates with Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee development, evaluation, and revision of curricula to ensure compliance with USG, SACSCOC, Accreditation Commission on Education in Nursing (ACEN), and Georgia Board of Nursing (GBON) guidelines
- Collaborates with Director on program accreditation and approval activities
- Plans and leads nursing department meetings
- Recruits, screens, hires, and evaluates full and part time faculty and any direct report staff
- Oversees and delegates new faculty orientation and mentoring
- Coordinates classroom and clinical observations
- Calculates and verifies nursing full and part time faculty workload
- Reviews and recommends full time faculty for promotion, tenure, and pre/post tenure
- Supports the process toward resolution of complaints and grievances from students, parents, and other interested parties
- Collaborates closely with clinical partners to ensure objectives of the program are met
- Approves course and clinical schedules
- Coordinates selection of learning resources for nursing courses
- Collaborates with the Director and Dean of Health Sciences to promote support for the nursing department
- Serves on college committees as assigned
TEACHING
- Teaches nine (9) credit hours for the academic year.
- Meets the common expectations of teaching faculty.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Earned graduate degree in nursing
- Administrative experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and department, usually interpreted to require three (3) to five (5) years of related experience
- Un-encumbered license as Registered Nurse (RN) and eligible to practice in Georgia
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
