Primary Purpose of the Organization
The Strategic Enrollment and Student Success ( SESS ) unit is dedicated to recruiting, retaining, supporting, and graduating students efficiently and effectively, in alignment with the goals outlined in the University strategic plan. This office seeks to attract and enroll a highly academic class of new and continuing students with outstanding ability and potential to address the challenges and opportunities presented by a rapidly changing society.
The mission of the SESS is to provide critical services to students, parents, and visitors to FSU throughout the student lifecycle, from identifying prospective students through graduation and beyond. SESS offices and units are at the intersection of vital Academic services that can positively impact student outcomes, reduce time to degree, promote awareness of FSU’s brand beyond North Carolina, and improve institutional effectiveness. SESS utilizes a collaborative, integrated approach to student success, pursuing organizational excellence and creating strategic partnerships to improve academic momentum, retention, transfer, and completion rates for FSU students, with a focus on scaling evidence-based practices for first- and second-year populations.
Primary Purpose of the Position
The Assistant Director for the Office of International Programs ( OIP ) plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of International Programs by overseeing various operational units and managing the overall administration of OIP’s activities. This position focuses on compliance, enhancing international education, and global learning through assessment practices, annual reporting, and strategic planning, while also engaging with faculty and international partners.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
- Master’s Degree in a field relevant to international education.
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in international education.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with faculty and staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication and public speaking skills.
- Strong intercultural communication skills.
- Qualitative and quantitative assessment experience.
- Comfortable using the standard suite of office productivity software, including MS Office.
- Professional experience in the design and implementation of assessment instruments related to international education.
- Experience living in a foreign country.
- Advanced proficiency in a foreign language.
- Motivated, proactive, and independent in job duties completion.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience in fundraising and donor relations.
- Membership and leadership in relevant Professional Associations (e.g., AIEA, NAFSA ).
