SALARY RANGE: $70,304-$70,304
HIRING RANGE: Anticipated hiring range is near or at the minimum of the classification, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
Definition of Classification: The Assistant Director, Undergraduate Admissions works to execute enrollment strategy to meet the needs of the institution. This position is responsible for representing academic programs, admission requirements, and financial aid opportunities to prospective students, college counselors/advisors, and organizations.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Admissions, this position travels approximately four (4) to eight (8) weeks each academic year to recruit students. Travel may extend throughout the U.S. and abroad.
This position requires flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as well as the ability to travel, as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicates effectively about the value of a liberal arts and science education.
- Represents the university at high schools, college fairs, and community-based organizations locally and if needed, throughout the country.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with prospective students by guiding them through the admissions process via telephone, email, print, virtual (e.g., Zoom) and in-person communication throughout the entire admissions cycle up through enrollment.
- Manages a territory by creating a recruitment plan, establishing relationships, and enrolling students.
- Conducts interviews and information sessions on campus for prospective students, families, groups, and special guests.
- Organizes and participates in on and off campus admissions office events throughout the year including a fall open house, Admitted Students Day, counselor programs, organization and partner events, yield receptions and summer send offs.
- Counsel prospective students on academic programs, admission requirements and procedures, and all aspects of financial aid.
- Analyzes and evaluates admissions applications and supporting documents and makes recommendations for action on these candidates.
- Organizes and participates in diversity programming for recruitment, application generation and yield.
- Assists with training of new admission counselors to include information sessions, events, file reading, application generation and yield campaigns.
- Supervise, plan, direct, and assign work of assigned staff; make hiring and disciplinary decisions; provide feedback on performance and approve timesheets.
- Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications Guidelines
Required: A bachelor’s degree. 2 years of experience in a professional work setting, ideally in higher education. A valid California Class C CA drivers’ license with a good driving record is required.
Preferred: Innovative thinker that will contribute ideas to enhance our overall recruitment strategy. Evidence of leadership and being a team player. Experience planning and executing diverse programming.
