Assistant Director, Operations, CRC
Job Summary
Reporting to the CRC Director, the Assistant Director, Operations CRC leads the GCITC CRC cybersecurity strategy and operations, including security architecture, control baselines, incident response, threat management, resilience, and sector-specific compliance, ensuring they are in accordance with the vision and mission of the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center and the State of Georgia. The role authors security policies and standards for CRC Director approval and is accountable for Security Operations Center (SOC) capabilities, automation, and measurable security KPIs. The Assistant Director, Operations CRC will work with the CRC Director to identify and drive synergies across GCITC CRC programs and partnerships and execute GCITC CRC programs and product strategies.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
STRATEGY AND GOVERNANCE:
- Supports the CRC Director in the end-to-end management of the CRC program, oversees multiple team members, and reports to the CRC Director, with responsibility for integrating CRC outputs into a scalable, high-quality, and measurable enterprise capability.
- Authors security policies and standards, runs IS governance, ensures compliance with applicable regulations and contracts (HIPAA, CJIS, NIST CSF, CIS Controls).
- Utilizes a deep knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, regulatory and compliance environments, program governance, and sector-specific risks to ensure alignment with organizational strategy and growth objectives.
- Supports the implementation of GCITC CRC educational research, and entrepreneurial programs that align with and deliver on the center's stated vision and mission
- Ensures confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data; leads incident response and resilience; and embeds security into every program and platform.
OPERATIONS AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:
- Assists the CRC Director with identifying and executing business growth opportunities and new revenue streams, including sector expansion, partnership development, and contract management.
- Translates enterprise goals from the CRC Director into security roadmaps and operating plans.
- Oversees staffing, budgeting, and contracting, leading three to five CRC Program Coordinator teams and their supporting staff.
- Utilizes strong knowledge of organizational finance, workforce planning, contracting, and partnership development to guide funding, service expansion, and resource allocation.
- Demonstrates advanced skills in leadership, mentoring, and talent development, managing a various workforce, and contributing to executive policy and strategic guidance.
- Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure efficient operation of the GCITC CRC service deliverables.
- Assists the CRC Director with the development of employment and administrative policies and procedures for all GCITC CRC functions, and day-to-day business operations, in adherence to related Augusta University policies.
- Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, and retention of qualified, competent staff under their purview.
FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE AND VIABILITY:
- Supports the development of resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the GCITC CRC.
- Manages fiscal responsibilities, operating within the approved budget, ensuring high resource utilization, and maintaining a positive financial position for the GCITC CRC
- Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the GCITC CRC, to include P&L responsibility for GCITC CRC programs, preparing and presenting annual budgets and reporting requirements, and tracking metrics (KPI), which accurately reflect the financial condition of the GCITC CRC.
