RECTOR OF THE SILESIAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY announces the competition for the position of assistant (F / M) in the group of research and teaching employees in the Department of Power Engineering and Turbomachinery at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering on the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, 2A Akademicka St.
Job description
- persons, who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (consol. text, Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339) may enter the competition for the position of assistant (F / M);
- estimated work commencement date: 01.10.2026;
- workplace and type of contract: Department of Power Engineering and Turbomachinery at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering, temporal full time employment contract;
- anticipated period of employment: from 01.10.2026 to 30.09.2027 (with the possibility of extension).
Requirements
- completed master's degree in the fields of environmental engineering, mining, and energy;
- participation in thematic conferences or symposia;
- knowledge (spoken and written) of Polish and English (at a minimum B2 level), enabling the conduct of didactic classes in both languages.
Additional requirements
- documented publication record in the discipline of Environmental Engineering, Mining, and Energy;
- documented publication record in the discipline of Environmental Engineering, Mining and Energy, evidenced by publications in highly ranked international journals,
- knowledge of software: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks. Knowledge of CFD modelling software, including but not limited to ANSYS Fluent;
- knowledge of issues related to the optimisation of power engineering machinery and equipment, as well as thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, particularly in the context of energy processes;
- experience in conducting laboratory, field-scale and numerical studies of solid fuel combustion processes and flue gas treatment methods;
- ability to present research results at scientific conferences and industry seminars;
- participation in projects funded by external sources will be an additional advantage;
- participation in scientific-research or service-research work as a project leader or contributor, particularly in the disciplines of Environmental Engineering, Mining, and Energy;
- practical knowledge of the operation of measuring devices used in emission monitoring and in determining the physicochemical parameters of gases;
- possession of a qualification certificate authorising the holder to operate and maintain Group 2 equipment and networks in the positions of Operation (E2) and Supervision (D2) will be considered an additional asset.

- statement on foreign language proficiency (English);
- statement on the Polish language proficiency (for candidates whose native language is not Polish);
- a declaration that the Silesian University of Technology will be the primary place of employment;
- opinion of academic teacher with the academic degree of habilitated doctor or equivalent – academic supervisor or thesis supervisor – concerning candidate’s predisposition to work as research and teaching employee.
