Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant Lecturer in News Literacy and Factchecking in the School of Future Media (SFM) (Ref.:537056) to commence on November 1, 2026, or from as soon as possible thereafter, with possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
The SFM is seeking a dedicated and trained fact-checking journalist to teach fact-checking courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and supervising Annie Lab (https://annielab.org), our fact-checking media outlet.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the teaching of relevant fact-checking courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level
- Supervise the operations of Annie Lab including student advising and news editing
- Contribute to a collaborative and innovative learning environment
Requirements
- Master’s degree or above in journalism or relevant disciplines
- At least three years’ working experience in fact-checking and/or journalism
- Strong command of written and spoken English
- Solid understanding of the news and social media landscape
- Proficiency in digital verification tools and techniques
- Knowledge of other Asian languages and prior teaching experience are advantageous
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
