Assistant Manager (Community Integration, Service and Learning)
Job Description
The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) is a student-facing department that supports and enhances the experience of NUS students and student life on campus. Within OSA, the Community Integration, Service and Learning team develops and delivers programmes that enable students to contribute meaningfully to the community, while also supporting growth and development of student group leaders to promote respect for diversity and inclusive mindsets.
The candidate will contribute towards driving key initiatives that foster community engagement and service, while supporting students' development through programmes, events, mentorship and funding schemes to enable meaningful upskilling and impact. An understanding of the community service eco-system would be helpful for this role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review, design and implement engagement and integration initiatives (e.g. Community Service Festival, mOSAic Festival etc.), ensuring delivery of high quality programs aimed at achieving specific outcomes. This includes co-contribution throughout all project stages, from planning to completion, monitoring progress, and tracking outcomes; and supporting student contributors who are co-leading programming.
- Administer community engagement funding schemes to support students in planning and implementing community service projects. This involves evaluating proposals, managing fund disbursement, and ensuring proper use of resources to achieve projects goals.
- Provide guidance and support to student interest groups focused on community, cultural, faith, and/or ethnic-based activities.
- Develop resources such as toolkits and training materials/programmes, to equip students and staff with the skills and knowledge needed for effective community, cultural, faith and/or language-based activities.
- Manage the application and selection process of the scholarship programme and provide guidance to scholars on their community impact projects.
- Facilitate the Communities and Engagement General Elective Course, revising course curriculum, mentoring students in their learning journey and providing feedback on practicum assessments as needed.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of engagement efforts by analysing data through quantitative and/or qualitative methods.
- Handle administrative tasks, maintain accurate records, and meet reporting requirements related to the responsibilities.
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects and committees, working with colleagues to advance initiatives within the Division and OSA.
- Support the Section Head in workplan development to drive key initiatives and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field such as social work, psychology, education.
- At least 4 years of professional experience in youth/student development, or higher education and community development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with diverse stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage concurrent tasks and deadlines with accuracy.
- Resourceful, with excellent project management skills.
- Proficient in outcomes and impact measurement, Microsoft Office Suite, survey tools (such as Qualtrics), and online communication platforms.
