Provide management support and oversight to a food service operation. Assist in leading a team of non-exempt service staff in the overall management of a residential unit, ensuring compliance with all food, occupational safety rules, regulations, and customer service expectations. Implement HUDS and University quality assurance policies for food, sanitation, equipment, facility maintenance, safety, etc. Assist with FoodPro menu and inventory management, including cost control, weekly inventory audits, and maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Solicit, sell, plan, and execute catered events such as conferences and campus-wide events. Work with the Unit Manager to develop cost-efficient, creative catering menus. Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, provide outstanding customer service, and meet specialty diets and nutritional needs. Ensure kitchen equipment is operational and alert the Unit Manager of repairs. Maintain the unit's physical plant, including walls, ceilings, floors, storage areas, servery, kitchen, and dining rooms. Follow unit-specific sustainability goals. Learn all aspects of the retail unit, including cash handling and micros.
Assist in providing leadership to a diverse team of unionized, non-exempt workforce. Promote a positive working environment with open communication, fairness, and opportunities for learning. Develop and maintain relationships with staff through regular meetings, feedback, and collaboration. Maintain professional relationships with Union Shop Stewards. Interview and hire based on approved staffing patterns, complete probationary evaluations, and ensure performance expectations are communicated. Collaborate with Human Resources to comply with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and University policies. Manage Kronos timekeeping system accurately.
Physical Requirements: Position involves long hours, lifting 20-30 pounds, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods. Working Conditions: Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, subject to wet floors, temperature extremes, and excessive noise.
