Assistant Men’s & Women’s Wrestling Coach
Position Description
Eastern University, a Christian university dedicated to integrating faith, reason, and justice, seeks a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as the full-time Assistant Men’s & Women’s Wrestling Coach. This position is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the wrestling program, including recruiting, coaching, and administrative duties, while upholding the mission and values of the university.
Position Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practice sessions and competition strategies.
- Recruit and retain high-quality student-athletes who align with the mission of Eastern University.
- Provide instruction and skill development for student-athletes to enhance their performance.
- Monitor academic progress, student-athlete well-being, and compliance with all university, conference, and NCAA policies.
- Assist in scouting and video analysis to develop effective game plans.
- Coordinate team travel, equipment, and other logistical operations.
- Support the team’s strength and conditioning programs in collaboration with the strength coach.
- Foster a positive team culture emphasizing personal growth, character development, and sportsmanship.
- Assist in fundraising and community engagement initiatives to promote the program.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
- Status : Staff, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, and previous successful experience as a wrestling coach at the college/professional levels is required.
- The ability and desire to work successfully within a team-oriented department environment are required.
- A commitment to the Division III philosophy of athletics, a working knowledge of NCAA rules, and a demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes is essential.
- Candidates must exhibit an understanding of and support for the University’s Christian Mission.
- Additional qualifications include excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and an ability to effectively communicate the mission and vision of Eastern University and the Athletic Department to alumni and friends of the university.
