The Dean of the Faculty of Sports Studies at Masaryk University announces a selection procedure for the position of:
Assistant or Assistant Professor at the Department of Physical Activities and Health Sciences
The Faculty of Sports Studies at Masaryk University is a dynamically developing faculty located in the modern premises of the University Campus in Brno-Bohunice. Our mission is to contribute to a physically active and healthy life for all age and performance groups of the population through student education, scientific activity, and social engagement, while promoting the development of knowledge in the field of sport and fostering respect for the rules of fair play in both sport and everyday life.
The Department of Physical Activities and Health Sciences is looking for a new colleague with practical experience in massage and knowledge of a wide range of massage and physiotherapy techniques. We are seeking a person with an interest in teaching, a willingness to engage in scientific and research work, and a motivation to further develop professionally in an academic environment. Experience in project management, publishing or previous teaching experience is welcome. We offer a supportive working environment that provides opportunities for active participation in teaching, research, and departmental development.
Job description:
- teaching seminars on classical and sports massage, kinesiology and involvement in teaching similar subjects taught by the department,
- supervising theses, tutoring,
- Examining during the examination period
- preparation of related study and teaching materials,
- participation in related administrative tasks,
- Involvement in the so-called "third role" of the university, i.e. in addition to teaching and research, also in socially beneficial activities (e.g. university of the third age).
- publishing activities at home and abroad, as well as efforts to secure grant projects.
We require:
- a completed master's degree in Physical Education and Sport, Physiotherapy or related fields,
- at least one year of experience in the field of massage, knowledge of a wide range of massage and physiotherapy techniques,
- a positive attitude towards teaching and a friendly approach to students,
- independence and motivation for teaching and scientific research activities,
- active knowledge of English, excellent knowledge of Czech,
- ability to work in a team,
- proactive and open approach to the development of the field and the department.
We appreciate:
- publication activity in a foreign journal included in Web of Science or Scopus (Q1 or Q2),
- experience in leading research or professional projects,
- previous teaching experience.
Expected start date: February 2026, or as agreed
Workload: full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time (at least 20 hours per week)
