The University of Florida Department of Media Production, Management, and Technology at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions: one Assistant Professor and one Associate/Assistant Professor in the areas of media technology and management.
Description of the job position:
The Department of Media Production, Management, and Technology (MPMT) invites applications for one assistant professor position and one associate/assistant professor position with a focus on media technology and/or management, starting August 2026.
We are looking for faculty members who conduct original research that examines the psychological processing, and/or the economic, societal, ethical, and cultural implications of media technologies, including but not limited to:
- Entertainment media
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)-related technologies, such as social robots, generative AI, recommendation systems, and algorithms
- Social media/mobile media/user analytics
- Digital culture and strategy
- Platform studies
- Science and Technology Studies
- Law and policy
- Media and technology startups, organizations, and industry development
Applicants are expected to demonstrate a solid theoretical basis for understanding media technologies and use diverse traditional or innovative methods to analyze and explain media practices and/or media management strategies.
Job Qualifications:
The candidate must have a terminal degree (Ph.D., J.D.) in a field related to media and communication, or in a field related to social sciences with a focus on media and communication by August 2026.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a record of scholarship in areas of media technology and management that leads to strong publications and a high likelihood of securing internal and external funding. The assistant professor candidate should demonstrate potential in establishing a national and international reputation. The associate professor candidate should demonstrate their national and international reputation.
The candidate will teach core courses and elective courses in the Department of Media Production, Management, and Technology, including RTV3002 Understanding Audiences, RTV4800 Media Management & Strategy, and/or RTV 3432 Ethics and Problems in Media. The candidate will also have opportunities to develop new courses in the department and teach graduate-level courses within the College of Journalism and Communications.

About the Department of Media Production, Management, & Technology:
The Department is one of the premier programs offering courses related to mass media and emerging media. Our curriculum prepares students for the media industry through specializations in Digital Film and Video Production, and Media Management and Technology. The department has about 500 student majors and 16 full-time faculty.
