Assistant or Associate Professor of Aviation
The Aviation Program at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana invites qualified applicants to join our faculty in a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate level. The successful candidate must have a broad background in aviation and be able to adapt to teaching a variety of aviation courses. These could include any FAA Part 141 ground school courses, aircraft systems and power plants, aviation safety, a variety of topics in aviation management, airline dispatch, uncrewed aerial systems, among other courses. A master's degree in aviation, education, business or a related field is required. FAA Certified Flight Instructor certificate with Instrument Airplane (CFI-IA) rating or FAA Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) and Instrument Ground Instructor (IGI) are desired. Experience as a pilot in a multi-crew aircraft is also desired. Opportunities to teach as a CFI in an airplane could exist, if desired, but is not expected of the employee. This person is a member of the Aviation Review Board, as well. Additional duties could include instruction and coordination of Crew Resource Management training in the simulator. The position begins August 1, 2026.

The Aviation Program offers majors in Aeronautical Science (Professional Pilot), Aviation Management and Uncrewed Aerial Systems. The College owns a fleet of eleven aircraft located two miles away at the Billings Airport and trains students from private pilot through all flight instructor ratings.
