Georgia State University is seeking applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in Biology within the Department of Life & Earth Sciences at Perimeter College.

Position Description: This is a teaching-focused position with an 80% teaching, 10% service, and 10% scholarly and creative activity workload distribution. Responsibilities include providing 27-32 semester hours of instruction per academic year, student support and advising, maintaining weekly office hours, and working effectively with students and colleagues. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to early undergraduate teaching and learning in a highly diverse academic setting. Teaching assignments may be on any of the college’s campuses.
Required Education:
- For Assistant Professor: A Ph.D. in the teaching field is required by the time of appointment. Salary range: $60,000 – $65,000.
- For Associate Professor: A Ph.D. in the teaching discipline is required, with previous rank as associate professor at a comparable institution for at least one academic year. Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- College teaching experience (one year preferred, including as a teaching assistant).
- Experience teaching online asynchronous and/or synchronous courses and proficiency with distance learning platforms.
- Interest in high-impact educational practices, scholarship of teaching and learning, building college-to-career linkages, and/or other pedagogical initiatives.
- Interest in scholarship in the discipline and/or scholarship of teaching and learning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to teach effectively using various methods and instructional technology.
- Ability to create a sense of belonging for a varied student population in both in-person and virtual environments.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and computer skills.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues.
Job Duties: Tenure-track positions are academic year appointments (August-May). Expectations include service to the department, college, and university, as well as maintaining a campus presence. The selected candidate will provide student support, engage in professional growth, and align career goals with the college’s mission.
