Job Description

The University of Texas at San Antonio is a Tier One research university and a Hispanic Serving Institution. This is a full-time, fixed-term track position for Assistant or Associate Professor of Instruction in the School of Architecture and Planning, Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design.

Salary Range: Up to $64,800-$69,800 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Hours: Full-time, Fixed Term Track (FTT), 4/4.

Required Application Materials: Resume, cover letter stating teaching philosophy, and portfolio of teaching and professional work.

Essential Functions:

The Interior Design program is seeking candidates to contribute to its growth.

  • Teaching 12 credit hours in both fall and spring semesters.
  • Actively participate in the Interior Design Curriculum Committee.
  • Actively engage prospective students at UT San Antonio events.
  • Develop relationships with the local design industry.
  • Oversee the Material Lab.
  • Serve as Interior Design student club Advisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in design, interior design, or architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience within a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) program.
  • National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) licensed.
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with teaching upper-level studios with integration of content related to the building industry.
  • Experience with teaching a variety of lecture courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in professional practice, preferably in Texas.

Additional Information: UTSA is a tobacco-free campus. This is a security-sensitive position; employment is contingent upon a successful background check. Applicants must show proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record as applicable. Position is primarily located on the downtown campus; travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
