Position Available: Assistant or Associate Professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine
Salary: The current base pay range is $183,100 - $236,400. Off-scale salaries and other components of pay are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.

Qualifications: Veterinarian (DVM or equivalent) with advanced training and clinical competence in small animal internal medicine. Experience and competence in extracorporeal medicine and blood purification. Board certification in small animal internal medicine by ACVIM or ECVIM, or completion of an approved residency program by the effective date of appointment. Preference for candidates with a PhD or advanced clinical training. Demonstrated ability to prescribe and oversee extracorporeal treatments independently. Aptitude in teaching, particularly clinical instruction. Documented research record or potential in extracorporeal medicine and related topics. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be eligible for veterinary medical licensing in California.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical: 50% commitment to the Small Animal Internal Medicine Service. Direct, instruct, and supervise students and residents; provide excellent patient care; advise referring veterinarians and clients; collaborate on the extracorporeal and blood purification unit.
- Teaching: Participate in DVM curriculum lectures and laboratories; clinical teaching in the VMTH; graduate clinical training; graduate academic programs (MS and PhD).
- Research: Develop a creative, independent research program in extracorporeal medicine, blood purification, and related topics; publish results; lead research projects for residents and students.
- Professional Competence: Advance the discipline through high-quality patient care; achieve ACVIM or ECVIM board certification within 3 years; demonstrate clinical excellence.
