"Assistant or Associate Professor of Statistics"

The Department of Statistics at Rice University in the George R. Brown School of Engineering and Computing invites applications for one faculty position at the tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor level. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026.

We welcome applicants in statistics and data science, including statistical computation, statistical learning, statistical foundations of AI, and methodologies for complex data. Candidates should have research interests in data-rich applications across science and engineering.

The selected candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, conduct high-quality research, publish in peer-reviewed outlets, secure extramural funding, provide service to the university, and collaborate across disciplines. They must mentor students from diverse backgrounds and supervise Ph.D. dissertations. Strengths in curriculum development for statistical computing and learning are encouraged.

Candidates are encouraged to align with the School's strategic areas: Engineering & Medicine, Molecular Nanotechnology & Materials, Cities of the Future, Future Computing, and Energy and the Environment (Strategic Plan).
