"Assistant or Associate Professor - Philosophy"

The Department of Philosophy at Lehman College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenure-track / tenured Associate Professor position, beginning in the fall of 2026. The department seeks candidates with specializations in Philosophy of Technology and AI, or Business Ethics. This position will build on the department's ties to the Department of Computer Science and the School of Business by offering courses on ethical and other philosophical issues in computing and technology, data science, and business.

The AOC is open but the Department has teaching needs in philosophy of mind, epistemology, philosophy of education, philosophy of gender, environmental philosophy, and ancient and medieval philosophy. The successful candidate will also teach some lower-level service courses such as Critical Reasoning, Logic, Contemporary Moral Issues, Justice and Society, or Problems of Philosophy, and be committed to exploring innovative pedagogical techniques to promote student success.

The teaching load is 18 credit hours (6 courses) per year. The successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda. Service is required for tenure and/or promotion, and the appointment will begin fall 2026.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in philosophy by August 25th, 2026.

COMPENSATION: Commensurate with education and experience. Assistant Professor salary: $90,838 - $102,017. Associate Professor salary: $109,898 - $121,194.
