Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor, Personal Financial Planning
The Division of Applied Social Sciences (DASS) seeks applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor or Associate Teaching Professor. This is a non-tenure track, nine-month appointment that will primarily support undergraduate instruction in the Personal Financial Planning (PFP) program, with potential contribution to graduate instruction as needed.
This position will have primary responsibility for teaching upper-division courses that comprise the CFP® Core curriculum, including Employee Benefits and Retirement Planning, Estate and Gift Planning, Tax Planning, Risk Management, Investment Management, and the Financial Planning Capstone. Courses may be delivered via traditional classroom, hybrid, and/or online formats. A central responsibility of the position is preparing students to meet the education requirement to sit for the national CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ exam. The successful candidate may also teach selected lower-division courses in personal and family finance to support enrollment growth and provide instructional continuity. Additional responsibilities may include undergraduate and/or graduate advising and service activities consistent with the instructional mission of the program and division, with specific duties subject to change based on program needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- A PhD degree in Financial Planning or a related field by the time of appointment.
Candidates will be evaluated on
- Highest degree earned.
- CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificate status.
- Qualifications to teach the above-described courses.
- Experience working with undergraduate students in a learning and mentoring environment.
- Experience with e-learning and technology-related educational innovation.
- Experience working with undergraduates and graduates for advising, recruitment, and industry connections.
