University College Birmingham’s FE College has grown significantly in recent years, and we are strengthening our leadership structure to ensure our curriculum continues to deliver outstanding outcomes for learners and employers.

We are seeking an experienced curriculum leader to join us as Assistant Principal – Service Sectors.

About the Role

Reporting to the FE Deputy Principal, the Assistant Principal will provide strategic and operational leadership across UCB’s Service Sector curriculum areas while also holding cross-college responsibility for the strategic development and performance of the Adult Skills offer.

This role will lead Heads of Department and work closely with quality and student experience teams to ensure strong teaching, clear progression pathways and inclusive learner support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership of Service Sector curriculum provision
  • Lead the development of an ambitious curriculum from Level 1 to Level 3
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning and assessment
  • Oversee performance metrics including achievement, retention and progression
  • Lead Adult Skills provision and growth strategies across the FE College
  • Line manage Heads of Department and support staff development
  • Build strong employer and community partnerships

About You

You will be a strong curriculum leader with experience managing teams in FE or a similar setting.

You will bring:
  • Experience leading Service Sector curriculum areas
  • A proven track record of improving teaching and learning
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Excellent data analysis and performance management capability
  • A commitment to inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners
