Job Description

The Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the United Arab Emirates University announces a vacancy for an Assistant Professor in Applied Arabic Linguistics. Applicants must specialize in teaching Arabic as a foreign language, in accordance with the university's established appointment policies and standards. Required qualifications: • PhD in Applied Linguistics or Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language from an internationally recognized university. • A distinguished research record, including publications in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus, in accordance with the appointment and promotion criteria at the United Arab Emirates University. • Proven university teaching experience at prestigious academic institutions. • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of specialization. • Active contribution to scientific research, academic supervision, and service to the department and the university. • Proficiency in English for research purposes. Duties and responsibilities: • Teaching courses related to the specialization. • Publishing high-quality research in international peer-reviewed journals. • Supervising Master's and Doctoral theses (when required). • Participating in academic committees and quality assurance and accreditation activities.

Minimum Qualification

Applicants must hold a doctorate in the applicable field. The ability to teach undergraduate courses is essential. Industrial and professional experience is a plus. A doctorate in applied linguistics or teaching Arabic as a foreign language from a recognized university is required, along with a research record published in peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Scopus database.

Preferred Qualification

Advanced research and teaching experience in Arabic as a Foreign Language (AFL) programs, with a distinguished academic record including publications in high-impact journals indexed in Scopus. Significant contributions to curriculum development and academic quality assurance, and experience supervising graduate students and working in prestigious international university settings. Proficient in English.
