Job Description

The Department of Chemistry at Idaho State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 17, 2026. The successful candidate will join an outstanding mid-sized ACS-approved department that values excellence in teaching and undergraduate research, and enjoys opportunities for collaboration both within ISU's College of Science and Engineering and with regional partners including Idaho National Lab.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

In the Department of Chemistry, formal faculty workload is typically 60% teaching, 20% research, and 20% service. This position will carry primary teaching responsibilities in quantitative and instrumental analysis lecture and laboratory courses, as well as occasional duties teaching graduate level analytical coursework and service courses such as general chemistry. The successful candidate will also develop a research program involving undergraduates and master's students and will pursue external funding.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or another related field (ABD will be considered, if completed by August 2026).

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience at the university level.

Postdoctoral experience.

This position will remain open until it is filled; however, priority consideration will be given to applications received on or before October 5, 2025. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
