Assistant Professor and Higher Education Executive Leadership Program Coordinator
Position Summary:
Wingate University's Thayer School of Education invites applications for a 12-month Assistant Professor who will serve as the Coordinator of the newly redesigned Ed.D. in Higher Education Executive Leadership.
This role combines faculty teaching and scholarly engagement with year-round program leadership, including continuous program improvement, student advising, recruitment, and administrative oversight. The coordinator will work collaboratively with faculty, university leadership, and external partners to prepare practice-oriented leaders for executive roles in educational institutions. The successful candidate will have higher education leadership experience, a passion for developing future institutional leaders, and a commitment to innovation and student-centered education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Development
- Teach online graduate-level courses in educational leadership (e.g., governance, organizational change, finance, policy), with a particular focus on executive analytics and strategic ROI modeling.
- Support curriculum revision and alignment with best practices and professional standards.
- Foster a practitioner-scholar model that integrates research, case studies, and real-world leadership challenges.
Program Leadership and Student Support
- Recruit, advise, and mentor graduate students pursuing leadership roles, focusing on engaging external executive stakeholders through continuous outreach to recruit institutional change agents.
- Coordinate professional development opportunities, networking events, and leadership seminars for students and alumni.
- Collaborate with university departments, community colleges, and external partners to promote program visibility and growth.
- Chair or serve as a member of dissertation committees.
Administrative and Operational Duties
- Maintain accurate student records, including advising notes, academic progress, and graduation status.
- Coordinate course scheduling and application processing, including interviews and admissions decisions.
- Support adjunct onboarding and ensure adherence to academic policies and instructional standards.
- Monitor program data (enrollment, outcomes, alumni employment) and prepare reports for accreditation and planning, taking ownership of SACSCOC and NCDPI accountability metrics and Signature Assignment Rubrics.
- Manage program budgets, purchases, and expenditures.
- Oversee the organization and archival of key documents (syllabi, handbooks, assessments, meeting notes).
- Ensure compliance with FERPA, university policies, and SACSCOC and NCDPI standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership (higher education-focused), Higher Education, or a closely related field
- Experience working in or with senior leadership roles in higher education
- Demonstrated effectiveness in graduate-level teaching
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and stakeholders with professionalism and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with higher executive leadership development, coaching, or mentoring educational professionals
- Knowledge of trends and challenges in higher educational leadership, including demographic shifts and data-informed decision-making
- Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), student information systems (e.g., Workday), and assessment platforms
