This position is ideal for a physician-scientist with a focus on translational research that integrates laboratory work, clinical practice, and teaching. In addition to clinical duties, we are especially interested in highly motivated clinician candidates whose research interests align with radiation therapy (e.g., radiation biology, chemical biology, cancer biology, immunology, bioinformatics, etc.). The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent, academic laboratory-based research program that complements the Radiosensitization Specialized Program of Research Excellence at the Rogel Cancer Center.

The first criterion for this appointment is that the candidate must have achieved (or, in the case of Assistant Professors, have the promise to achieve) true distinction in scholarship. Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The successful applicant will spend a portion of time in clinical radiation therapy and teaching graduate students, research-oriented medical students, and radiation oncology residents and fellows, as well as participate in teaching and clinical research programs. Clinical disease site assignment will be based on individual expertise and departmental need. Independence in research by way of a record of first authored publications in first tier peer-reviewed journals would also provide evidence of the candidate's capability to develop a significant independent research career with sustained extramural funding. Laboratory space and start-up funds to establish a research program are available and will be based on the needs of the candidate. The candidate must also have the ability to develop a substantial record of non-didactic teaching with the potential to develop a scholarly reputation at the national level.

M.D. with completion of post-graduate training in an ACGME-certified Radiation Oncology residency program. Must be Board Certified or Board eligible by the American Board of Radiology. Hold, or have the ability to obtain, the appropriate medical licenses in the State of Michigan. Previous record of publications in scientific journals, experience in clinical research and teaching. The candidate will ultimately be required to develop peer-reviewed extramural funding as a Principal Investigator.

This position can be filled as an Assistant Professor or an Associate Professor. Rank of selected candidate is dependent upon qualifications.
