Job Summary

Assistant Professor, or preferably a tenured Associate Professor of Creative Writing – Poetry to teach undergraduate and graduate creative writing courses, general education courses, and advance the English Department’s research and scholarship goals.

Job Duties

• Teach undergraduate and graduate creative writing courses.
• Teach general education courses upon request.
• Develop and/or teach advanced online courses
• Contribute to research and scholarship opportunities that will enhance the research efforts of the Department of English and the Creative Writing Program
• Teach advanced Creative Writing and (occasionally) literature courses
• Provide services to the department, college, university, community, and profession
• Hold regular office hours in order to aid and increase the opportunities for student success.
• Attend departmental faculty meetings and serve on departmental committees as assigned.
• Faculty are expected to post grades in Canvas and submit reports, midterm grades, and final grades in a timely manner.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics

• Demonstrated knowledge of a second genre preferred, particularly dramatic writing.
• Commitment to working with an ethnically and culturally diverse student population.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Earned a terminal degree in Creative Writing or a related field.

Other Preferences for Consideration

• An established and ongoing scholarly and creative publishing record in the field of poetry as appropriate to rank
• Additional experience teaching at the college level.
