Job Description:
The Division of Journalism in the School of Communication at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position beginning August 1, 2027. Applicants should have a PhD or an anticipated PhD completion by August 1, 2027, in the field(s) of Data Science, Quantitative Methods, or other relevant fields.
Candidates should be effective teachers and must be strongly committed to excellence in research, creative, or relevant professional work. We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality scholarship in areas including data science and quantitative methods. Teaching specialization in these fields is preferred, though other areas will be considered. In addition to scholarship and teaching, responsibilities will include participation in division, school and university service.
Salary and benefits are competitive. The compensation range is $95,000-$115,000 for the rank of Assistant Professor and $105,000-124,000 for the rank of Associate Professor.
