Job Summary
The Georgia Prevention Institute (GPI) of the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) is seeking applications for a Tenure Track Position. Preference will be considered at all ranks with priority given for candidates in human research at the Assistant Professor level, but are open to outstanding candidates at other ranks. GPI, is currently holding >$15 million extramural funding, has over a thirty-year history of interdisciplinary research programs in areas including obesity, cardiovascular diseases, behavioral medicine, stress and mental health, cancer, diabetes, fitness, health disparities, nutrition, kidney diseases, lung diseases, and substance abuse in both children and adults. GPI Faculty follow several longitudinal population cohorts from childhood, adolescence to adulthood. The research expertise of qualified applicants may be within or complementary to the existent research expertise that includes obesity, behavioral sciences, cognitive function, cardio-oncology, nutrition, microbiome, brain imaging, muscle and skeletal function, substance abuse and addiction, mobile technology and telemedicine as well as community-based research and implementation sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and develop an innovative and independent research program that will attract and maintain extramural funding from government agencies (e.g. the National Institute of Health), private foundations, and industry. Position will remain open until filled. MCG, Georgia's only public medical school, has a long tradition of excellence in education and clinical care and is the founding school of AU, one of four research-intensive universities in the University System of Georgia. AU is comprised of the following colleges: College of Allied Health Sciences; Dental College of Georgia; The Graduate School; College of Nursing; Hull College of Business; College of Education; College of Science and Mathematics; Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; School of Computer and Cyber Sciences; and MCG. Founded in 1828, MCG is one of the nation's first medical schools, the 8th largest in the nation for total enrolment, and has helped enhance healthcare in Georgia and beyond through education, discovery and service. MCG has 22 academic departments, 922 medical students, 510 residents training in 47 programs, 897 faculty members, 125 postdoctoral fellows, and 773 staff members. Augusta, a charming Southern city and home of the world-renowned Master's golf tournament, is a superb place to live with a low cost of living and a short drive to both the Georgia/Carolina mountains and the Georgia/Carolina/Florida coast. Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree in biomedical related disciplines from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated human research experience (publications in peer-reviewed journals, and extramural funding.
