Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor in Medical Genetics
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of a part-time (35%) ASSISTANT PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / PROFESSOR
The field of the position is medical genetics and the language of instruction is Swedish.
The position may be filled as assistant professor, associate professor or professor depending on the candidates’ merits and career stage.
The professorship in medical genetics is associated with a research director’s position at Folkhälsan Research Centre. Applicants must submit separate applications for the professorship and the research director’s position.
Requirements for Assistant Professor: Shall hold a doctoral degree, have the ability to conduct independent scholarly work and have the teaching skills necessary for the position. Demonstrate ability and motivation for an academic career through publications and other means. Consideration given to research work, teaching qualifications, external funding, international experience.
Requirements for Professor: Hold a doctoral degree and have top-level scholarly qualifications, experience in supervision of scientific research, ability to provide top-level research-based teaching and supervise theses. Documentation of international cooperation. Skills as academic leader. Consideration of publications, teaching experience, funding, international experience, leadership.
Mastery of Swedish (C2 recommended, C1 minimum) and good English skills required. More info: Instructions for applicants and language law.
Duties: Participate in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education, including small-group and lecture-based teaching. Carry out and supervise research, community relations, cooperation. Other tasks assigned. Required to participate in clinical teaching; must be a licensed physician.
Salary: Based on level 7 (assistant professor) and 8-10 (professor) of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in Finnish universities, plus personal performance component.
