The College of Mathematics at Hunan University is one of the colleges with longest history in Hunan University. It offers Ph.D programs in pure mathematics and applied mathematics and has equipped with a key laboratory of Hunan Province. The mathematics discipline at Hunan University is the key discipline of Hunan Province.

The College of Mathematics has 85 full-time faculty members, among which there are 15 full professors. The main research fields in pure mathematics include partial differential equations, functional differential equations, dynamic systems, complex analysis, hyperbolic geometry, general topology, harmonic analysis and algebra. The main research fields in applied mathematics include numerical PDEs, combinatorics, optimization methods, numerical algebra, inverse problems, statistical analysis, and optimal prediction.

Assistant Professor/Associated Professor/ Professor in Mathematics

Number of vacancies: 6

There are 6 open positions at all ranks in 2015, including 2 full professor or associate professor and 4 assistant professors. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong research record in one of the research fields: pure mathematics, computational mathematics, combinatorics and statistics.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Conduct full-time lecturing and research in the discipline of mathmatics.
• Obtained a PhD degree from an internationally renowned university.
• Research experience with outstanding academic achievements will be given special considerations.
• Applications of non-Chinese origin should have basic Chinese communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Annual salary RMB 150,000 for assistant professor, RMB 180,000-200,000 for associate professor and RMB200,000-300,000 for professor. Specific treatments for outstanding applicants are to be negotiated in person.
• Monthly accommodation rental subsidy within 2 years, RMB 400~600 for assistant professor and associate professor, RMB 800 for professors.
• Start-up research fund RMB 100,000 for professors.
• Youth Scholars funding available for assistant professor and associated professor under 40 years old, with a lump-sum research grant of RMB 200,000, annual payment in five years.
• Full university benefits and public insurance.
• 3 month University semester vacation, summer vacation runs from July to August and Winter vacation around Chinese New Year.
