Assistant Professor, Athletic Therapy (Probationary Tenure-Track)
About the Position
The Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a tenure-track teaching-intensive position at the rank of Assistant Professor in support of the newly approved Master of Athletic Therapy Program beginning May 1, 2026. The Master of Athletic Therapy Program will welcome the first cohort in May 2026. The workload of a teaching-intensive faculty member shall normally be 60% teaching (equivalent to 6 half courses per academic year), 20% research/scholarly/creative activities and 20% service.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate degree, university-level graduate and/or undergraduate teaching experience, the ability to teach applied athletic therapy courses, CAT(C) certification or be eligible to sit for exam (through International Arrangement), and a commitment to service including community engagement and knowledge translation; First Responder Instructor certification would be considered an asset. Demonstration of a strong record of scholarship is considered an asset as supervision of Major Research Projects for the Master of Athletic Therapy students will also be a requirement of this position.
Specifically, we are looking for a dynamic individual with expertise in athletic therapy injury evaluation, management, and rehabilitation and the ability to teach applied graduate level courses within one or more of the following areas: 1) musculoskeletal assessment, 2) therapeutic intervention, 3) clinical research in athletic therapy, and/or 4) therapeutic modalities, to prepare students to sit for the National Certification Examination of the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA). Individuals may also teach in the other programs within the Kinesiology Department and should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: 1) care and prevention of athletic injuries; 2) clinical assessment; and/or 3) musculoskeletal anatomy. The successful candidate should provide evidence of ability to work in a transdisciplinary environment and to make contributions to a vibrant group of scholars housed within the Department, Faculty, and University that can extend to the greater Niagara Community.
